HASS Week 2-day Conference

Open to all Humanities Educators from all schools

Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary

Friday 2 and Saturday 3 August

There will be concurrent sessions for all teachers, across all year levels each day, with the full program being available on Fri 21 June. We are grateful for the time and expertise shared freely by our presenters (mostly teachers) and our partnership with the State Library of WA and the various exhibitors, which have enabled us to organise this extraordinary event for such low registration fees. We are hoping this will enable more teachers to attend for the two days.

Friday 2nd & Saturday 3rd August (2 days)

Friday 2 August ONLY

Saturday 3 August ONLY

Both days will feature a combination of concurrent sessions and student presentations in the form a short videos and a ‘market place’ of displays.

The HASS Week WA Steering Committee invites you to submit a proposal for a lecture or workshop suitable for an audience of Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) teachers. The theme of this cross sector Conference is My Future My Voice with a focus on how young people can be empowered to be informed, active citizens. We seek proposals which will assist teachers in their implementation of the Western Australian Curriculum, pedagogical approaches, HASS inquiry skills, Literacy, Information Technology, Interdisciplinary methods of teaching HASS as well as considering interesting topics, issues and arguments.

Each day will consist of a series of concurrent sessions, presented by educators, writers and resource providers. Shared sessions with co-presenters are most welcome. We are expecting to see multi-media, interdisciplinary presentations, demonstrating critical thinking, innovation, collaboration and creative skills, also how literacy and arts integration enhances student engagement of HASS knowledge and understanding.

All proposals will be reviewed by representatives from the HASS Week WA Committee (including teachers) and the ultimate aim is to fill the program with experienced, innovative presenters to engage and excite teachers of all levels of experience, to showcase and celebrate the Humanities and Social Sciences Learning Area.
